Waking Ashland - I Am For You
>
[listen]
Composure - Tooth & Nail
Waking Ashland
isnt exactly your typical band. Fronted by a keyboardist, Waking Ashland
strives to avoid the over-processed sounds of todays generalized rock
acts, building their music on genuine emotion rather than industry standards.
Waking Ashland, a band formed during the re-emergence of independent rock, merges
the energy of artists like Jimmy Eat World and Weezer with the songwriting craft
of Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson to create something both original and beautiful.

Robbie Seay Band - Better Days
>
[listen]
Better Days - Sparrow/EMI
The Robbie Seay
Band: ...is this a great independent released CD or what!!! Superb Midwest
rock in the same tradition as Gin Blossoms, Big Tent Revival with a portion
of modern pop a la Jars of Clay. Add one of the best singers (Robbie Seay) I
have heard in ages and were quite ahead of the qualities this band has.
Favorite tracks are quite unnecessary to write about when an album is this solid
but third out Revolution which sounds like the missing link between
U2 and Midwest rock is great. -melodic.net

Marjorie Fair - Empty Room
>
[listen]
Self Help Serenade - Capitol
A potential
modern classic.. destined to break hearts and win minds, said The Independent.
Disarming stuff for the disenchanted, considered NME. For Uncut,
it was a rich harvest, melodic and explosive; for Mojo, a
candidate for debut of the year. It can only be a matter of time before
word spreads and its bruised beauty blooms. It takes elements of classic (Neil
Young, Brian Wilson, John Lennon) and particles of indie (Flaming Lips, Low,
My Bloody Valentine) to lure you in and wrap you up in slow-burning, chilly,
therapeutic thrills.

Bethany Dillon - New
>
[listen]
Imagination - EMI
From the first
listen of her self-titled Sparrow Records debut it is obvious that Bethany
Dillon possesses the rare gift of balance between flowing lyrics and moving
melodies. With a voice equally at home with soaring strings and mandolins as
it is with upbeat electric guitars, Bethany has an accessible sound all her
own. She is the exuberance of Michelle Branch and the weightiness of Aimee Mann.
Bethanys highly-anticipated sophomore effort, Imagination, showcases
an artist whose eyes and heart are open wider for trying, all the while carving
out her own unique place among the most respected singer/songwriters.
