Taking its title from Marvin Gaye’s landmark recording, the documentary looks into the artist’s outstanding musical career and turbulent personal life. With lengthy interviews from Gaye’s inner circle of friends, family, and musicians who worked closely with him, the bio traces many of the singer’s problems (substance abuse, marital woes, among others) back to his father, who ultimately murdered his son in 1982.
