Though listed as “various artists,” ten of the 14 tracks from the collection
involve the relatively obscure Denver band, DeVotchKa. Using both their original
compositions and collaborations with composer Mychael Danna, the songs complement
the story’s off-kilter characters and situations. Other highlights include
Rick James’ “Superfreak” and Sufjan Stevens’ “Chicago.”
