Don Byron
Do The Boomerang
(CD
Blue Note)
Celebrated jazz clarinet player Don Byron releases the album, Do the Boomerang,
as a well-deserved tribute to Motown singer and saxophonist, Junior Walker. On
the surface, such a release could be viewed as a simple retread of standard material,
but the avant-garde Byron always has several tricks up his sleeve. Instead of
his usual clarinet, Byron opts to play tenor sax on virtually the entire album.
