In fact, the instrumentation and backing choruses are rich enough to almost (but not quite) drown out Willie Nelson’s trademark twang. Highlights include: “Rainy Day Blues,” “Songbird,” “Hallelujah,” the funny-sad “$1000 Wedding,” and a minor-key “Amazing Grace.”
