Dave Liebman played with Miles Davis and worked on Davis’s On The Corner album, which inspired this offering. Liebman’s tribute to that time and that style features compositions of his own as well as Miles’ “Ife” and “Black Satin.” This is more “elemental” music than that of the well-known Bitches’ Brew era, owing more to funk and soul, basic rhythms more than melody. Each musician gets a solo moment.
