Jazz guitarist Skip Heller’s latest dips into the Punk-Alt songbook with covers of XTC’s “Dear God,” Dead Milkmen’s “Punk Rock Girl,” and X’s “Motel Room In My Bed” done up so jazzily that they’re a genre to themselves. Heller’s originals feel influenced by punk, Latin, surf music (“Hideout In The Sun”) and maybe even some Enrico Morricone (“Katrina Mon Amour”). What an eclectic guy.
