On their latest CD, Nature, the eclectic jazz-pop trio, Dave’s True Story,
finds itself poised to reap the benefits of a DIY career with a penchant for
going against the grain.
The group’s
inventive, distinct style of fusing retro jazz overtones with quirky pop polish
has garnered critical praise and helped sell more than 50,000 CDs, an impressive
feat for any act not affiliated with the corporate music machine. At the heart
of their sound is vocalist Kelly Flint’s sultry voice kissing sensual life
into the occasionally risqué songs of guitarist/writer Dave Cantor.
With satirical sonnets and biting irony, Dave’s True Story has gradually
